If you’re ordering a gripper bar for the first time- or even if you’ve done it before- you want to be sure you’re getting the right part. At Conway Machine, we’ve seen too many quote requests delayed because of missing or unclear info. That’s why we put this guide together.
We get a lot of gripper bar quote requests. Some are straightforward, others not so much—usually because we don’t have the info we need up front. The best way to avoid that? Pictures.
Here’s what our Account Manager, Johnny, had to say about it (and we agree completely):
“When requesting a quote for gripper bars, it’s critical for all parties to have accurate and complete information. Purchase history is good if there’s been no change in equipment and you’re dealing with the same supplier who has had no modifications in the required product. Providing an OEM part number is usually helpful in identifying the correct replacement bar as well and verbal descriptions can be useful. History has proven however that pictures are far and away the best method of verifying the correct gripper bar for your specific need. One picture of the machine’s legible data plate along with several pictures of your gripper bar, showing the chain ends, profile, and grippers from multiple angles will usually do the job. Getting it right in the beginning, can ensure a timely and accurate quote while preventing costly returns.”
In other words:
Yes, purchase history helps.
Yes, OEM part numbers help.
But photos always have the info we need.
Here’s what to send for a fast gripper bar quote:
-
- A clear photo of your machine’s data plate
-
- Multiple angles of your gripper bar — especially the ends, grippers, and profile
-
- OEM number, if you have it
-
- Any other relevant details about modifications
With just a few clear photos, you’ll get the gripper bar quote you need—fast, accurate, and without the back and forth.
We know it can feel like overkill to send a dozen photos for a simple gripper bar quote- but trust us, it’s worth it. Gripper bars aren’t one-size-fits-all, and the smallest variation can throw off your fit. A quick phone call or part number is helpful, but nothing beats visual confirmation. It’s the fastest way to avoid a misquote- and the only way we can guarantee you’re getting the right gripper bar for your machine.
We make all of our aftermarket gripper bars here in the U.S., with quality you can count on. And we don’t believe in overcomplicating things—just getting it right the first time.
